Byron Perry has worked for the Clark County Department of Aviation since 1992 and currently serves as Managing Director of Aviation, Airside Operations. Bringing more than 42 years of industry experience to this role, Perry is responsible for the safety and efficiency of the airfield and its operations as well as ensuring it continues to meet FAA standards.
Perry brings extensive knowledge of the LAS airside operations, having previously held multiple positions within the Airside Operations division. Prior to his appointment as Assistant Director of Aviation, he spent 15 years as the supervisor overseeing Airport Operations Coordinators and three years as the Airport Manager for Airside Operations.
His teams are responsible for a variety of airfield logistics which include day-to- day oversight of emergency management, operations, maintenance, and construction across Harry Reid’s Passenger Terminal Complex, four runways, and taxiway system. They help ensure seamless movement of aircraft and vehicles on the airfield by providing safe and secure access, assigning gates for arriving aircraft and coordinating departing flights of about 57.6 million passengers and 611,806 aircraft operations in 2023. They also operate the Airport Control Center, which serves as the communication center for the entire airport.
Prior to joining the Department of Aviation team, Perry spent 11 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a Security Specialist. Stationed around the world, he had many responsibilities including the protection of military facilities, aircraft, and the military, civilian and contractor personnel on various bases.
Giving back to the community is important to Perry, specifically as a mentor for the Clark County Summer Business Institute, in which he has participated since 2006. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife Margie, his family and his friends.
