Richard McElman joined the Clark County Department of Aviation (DOA) in March 2024, and is an accomplished IT leader with more than 20 years of experience in infrastructure technology. As Managing Director, McElman oversees all operational aspects of the airport’s IT infrastructure, managing both on-site and cloud services. He leads a dedicated team of IT professionals, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the airport's information systems.

McElman's responsibilities include implementing cutting-edge technologies to enhance business processes and efficiencies, overseeing data management and providing comprehensive IT support services. He ensures that all systems align with the organization’s goals and regulatory requirements.

Throughout his career, McElman has held various leadership positions in the IT sector. Before joining the DOA, McElman served as the Global Senior Director of Architecture & Engineering at Arthur J. Gallagher and held several Director roles at United Airlines. His professional achievements include successfully managing portions of the IT merger between United and Continental Airlines, being awarded United Airlines’ IT Visionary of the Year and managing several large IT Mergers & Acquisitions for Gallagher, including the Willis Towers Watson Re-insurance to Gallagher.

McElman is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Electronics Technician “A” school. His hobbies include playing soccer, scuba diving and traveling around the globe to indulge in both activities. He is a volunteer with Rotary International and has competed with a team in the Nike World Competition for soccer. Originally from Palatine, Ill., McElman now calls Las Vegas home. He enjoys spending time with his three wonderful daughters and three grandchildren.
