- 1. How do fines escalate on parking citations? Fines vary and escalate differently depending on the citation amount. Example 1: if original fine is $50, pay within 10 days only $25 is due, pay within 31-60 days $75 is due, pay after 60 days $100 is due. Example 2: original fine is $200, pay within 10 days only $100 is due, pay within 31-60 days $300 is due, pay after 60 days $400 is due.
- 2. What if I don't agree with my citation and want to appeal? A person who receives a citation for a parking violation at Harry Reid International Airport is given the opportunity to respond, per county Ordinance Title 20.08.140, by contacting the designated representative of the Department of Aviation as part of an administrative process. - 3. What if I don't pay my citation(s)? If the original citation is not paid within 60 days, fines could increase up to $400. Refer to question #1. After 60 days, the Department of Motor Vehicles will be notified of outstanding citations which will result in delay of vehicle registration until full payment is made. If you have a hold on your registration and pay your citation on-line, your release may take up to 7 days.
- 4. I received a parking citation on a rental car while visiting Las Vegas, am I still responsible? Yes, Rental Car agencies are required under County Ordinance to provide the name and address of the renter of the vehicle on the date and time the parking citation was issued. Once the name and address for the renter of the vehicle is put into our computer a Notice of Delinquency will be issued to the renter for payment on the parking citation.
- 5. I was not operating my vehicle when the citation was issued. Am I still responsible? Yes, the registered owner of the vehicle is ultimately responsible for payment of the parking citation.
- 6. Under what authority are citations issued? For infractions of the parking rules and regulations (non-moving traffic) set forth in Title 20-Airports, the director of aviation is authorized to set applicable civil fines within limits established. - 7. I went to pay my fine online, but the amount due is more than double what is indicated on the citation, why? If this is your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th citation within a twelve (12) month period, you are considered a repeat offender.
