Pre-Flight Preparation

Notify Your Airline

Advise your airline of any special requirements including the need to assist unaccompanied minors or disabled passengers, carry medical supplies on board, or request courtesy wheelchair assistance.

Check Flight Status

Contact your airline to verify flight information and check the status of your flight before coming to the airport.

Charge Your Electronics

If you are bringing a mobile phone and/or laptop with you, it’s a good idea to have these fully charged before you leave.   You will be able to use these at the airport, but once you’re on the plane they will have to be switched off during takeoff and landing and in the case of your mobile, possibly the duration of the flight,

Pack Smart

  • Remember 3-1-1 for carry-ons. Place liquids, gels, and aerosols in 3-ounce containers, in a one-quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag, one bag per traveler.
  • Medically necessary liquids like breast milk, baby formula, and insulin, are permitted and must be declared to a security officer at the checkpoint.
  • Tag checked and carry-on luggage inside and out with your name, address, and phone number.
  • Certain items are prohibited in your luggage. For a complete list, please visit the TSA web site
  • Pack your medication, passport, jewelry, important documents, and other valuables in your carry-on luggage.
  • Do not place wrapped gifts in either checked or carry-on luggage.
  • Remember that all checked and carry-on luggage may be subject to search.

Dress Smart

Jewelry, body piercings, belt buckles, shoes, and other attire containing metal may set off the metal detectors at the security checkpoints. To save time, pack all such metal items in your carry-on luggage before arriving at the checkpoint. Place shoes, sweaters, jackets and 3-1-1 bag in a bin before going through the metal detectors.

Remember Your Travel Documents

Before leaving for the airport, make sure you have your ticket or boarding pass. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations require that all passengers have a boarding pass and valid photo I.D. to enter the security checkpoint.

Bring Valid Identification

Adults need an official photo I.D. issued by a government authority OR two other forms of valid I.D., one of which must be issued by a government authority. Minors are not required to have I.D.

Arrive Early

Arrive approximately two hours (three hours for international flights) prior to your scheduled departure to allow plenty of time to get around. Contact your airline for specific flight information and suggested arrival times.
